Land of the Dead
Trista and I went and saw this for $5 a few days ago. I’m a fairweather fan of zombie films. I loved the Dawn of the Dead remake, that should tell you enough.
Land of the Dead isn’t a better film than the Dawn of the Dead remake. It’s not terrible, but it’s not great either. The zombie kills are pretty cool, but the majority of them are all CGI and it’s obvious, which brings a tear to my eye. Dennis Hopper sleep walks through the film, but he has one good line that made me laugh pretty hard. Everyone else in the film is pretty meh, as well.
Land of the Dead can be summed up by describing the film with the following sentence, spoken as if the movie is actually talking to you directly, “Hey, look at this futuristic society where Zombies inhabit the land and a select few normal humans fight for survival and amongst themselves pettily. THE END!”
That’s it. There’s no substance to it, really, and you can’t possibly give a shit about any of the characters, so… for five dollars for two people, it’s a great zombie flick. Otherwise, eh.
Euurgh, you WOULD enjoy that remake more than an actual George A. Romero production.. Though, I still think you need to see the original Dawn of the Dead before you can judge.
