Hi
Trista and I went and saw a production of Bertrolt Brecht’s Happy End as performed by some ELAC students. That was a gigantic mess. I mean, the peformances weren’t terrible, which is to say that they were as bad as expected but not unbareable, it’s just that, well, uh, Brecht, and this whole, uh, socialism in the face of making sense thing. That kind of sucked.
Essentially you watch The Salvation Army and a gang of petty organized criminals have some issues between each other and then at the end one of the petty organized criminals says something to the effect of, “We have been fighting ourselves, but we have really been fighting a common enemy. Robbing a bank is no crime, compared to owning one!”
Trista had a much harder time holding in her laughter than I did.
Hurray socialism.
It was rather sad to find out that one of Brecht’s plays, a man who I had heard much about and held some respect for based mostly on hearsay, was total shit. Such a pity.
