An Ironic Sans Style Idea: Who2tell
Or something. Who2tell is something I pulled out of my ass right now. This idea, though, has been kicking around for a while, and since I am no programmer, this will never get done by me.
I discovered PingMe a few weeks ago, and though I have relatively little use for a “to do” service, PingMe is awesome. Well, if it wasn’t for the fact that there isn’t really SMS support, it’s all email based, it’d be a fantastic service for people who need to keep track of a lot of details. It’s great, too, because it can ‘pester’ you repeatedly every couple of minutes if you want it to. The best thing about it, however, is that it inspired this idea:
Who2tell, a service that reminds you of stories or things you’ve told people, and who’ve you got left to tell. Sure, this makes conversation relatively shallow but generally life goes like this for me:
1.) Something happens.
2.) I tell someone else about that something.
3.) Sometimes I tell the same person about the same something twice.
This service would allow you to send a text message to the service that looks something like this:
How I broke my leg. T: Trista Becca Kristie Matt Mike John Robg
This’ll set up an entry in your list of stories, titled “How I Broke My Leg” and then a list of names. There can be a huge number of these.
When you’re hanging out with someone you can send the service a text message like:
W: trista kristie
And the service will send you back something that looks like this:
Trista: 1. What happened to all the blow. 2. Why elephants have small dicks.
Kristie: 3. Who does that guy think he is, eating all the cheese.
All: 4. How I broke my leg
So, then you’ll know, everyone present needs to hear the story about how you broke your leg. Trista needs to hear about blow and elephants, and Kristie alone needs to know about the cheese.
When you’re finished telling the stories, or some of them, you can just text the service back (and this is where things get kinda tricky, from an SMS standpoint) with something like:
done:2 4
And the service will know to remove those things from those people, respectively.
A few things: need some sort of markup in notification that shows you who has already heard a certain story, so if you message that you’re in a large group you know who has already heard what. Option for groups of people, so you can just say ‘all’ and it’ll assign to all your friends, or specific groups, girls, guys, etc.
Kinda harebrained but I think it’s awesome.
