Last night in my sleepy trance I downloaded a clock program, turned out it was a newer version of one I already had with a new name, but by default it came with an hourly chime with one of the annoying Windows sounds assigned to it, so on the hunt for a ‘distant watch beep’—because I wanted to keep the chime and not have it be highly annoying—I came across this lovely little pure glass ping and assigned it to the hourly chime and then forgot about it entirely.

I’ve spent the last three hours trying to figure out where the hell this totally random glass ping was coming from. First, I thought it came from outside, and actually got up to look outside to see if anything was happening, and then I thought it was this random sound thrown into Californication because it occurred pretty much right after the equivalent of a punch line.

Yeah.
