I reported to jury duty today. I’ve actually been to jury duty many times before, but have never left the waiting area. This time, almost immediately, I was called in with a large group, and I was in the random pool of 18 people to be selected initially to be questioned.

For some reason I don’t want to really get into it, but by the grace of my troubled past, I was excused from the jury. My wife chalks it up to my impossibly good luck. But really, it’s just proving the idiom: the truth will set you free.
