When I was a teenager, actually even before I was a teenager because I was probably closer to twelve years old, I was a massive smart ass. I was the snarky asshole who was taking down other people with his words, even before I had a website. I was this person on mailing lists and newsgroups.
So it’s weird for me to be so upset that this has basically become the internet now. Like every single person is on edge at all times, just waiting for the right moment to savage their perceived foes. It used to be people reacted in confusion if you were mean on the internet. Now they grin, as if to say “game on,” and come at you head on.
